Two big name brands to consider are Continental and Dexter.
I chose a Dexter coin washer for my needs and I wasn't totally scientific about it. The front loading Dexter Washers weigh less than a similar type Continental and are a bit smaller.
factors to consider:
- interior space or capacity of the washer
- size
- weight - did anyone say shipping?
- speed of how fast the washer spins - can mean less dry time and cleaner clothes if it spins fast
